Knauf offers new web resource to promote KoolDuct
system www.KnaufUSA.com/KoolDuct provides
information on Knauf’s pre-insulated, lightweight
duct system
(September 15, 2005) In late 2003, Knauf Insulation acquired
exclusive North American distribution rights to the KoolDuct
system, a pre-insulated duct system that provides an
energy-efficient, total low-cost solution for commercial and
industrial applications. Since then, interest in the KoolDuct
system has risen dramatically and the system is in use across the
nation. Today, Knauf announced a new online resource,
www.KnaufUSA.com/KoolDuct,
that provides more detailed information on this unique, lightweight
system that offers exceptional installed performance, design
flexibility and space savings while cutting installation time in
half.
The Knauf KoolDuct system features a CFC-free closed cell
phenolic foam board faced on both sides with reinforced aluminum
foil, with patented aluminum flanges used to connect the duct
sections with a strong, tight closure. KoolDuct is a UL
181-rated system that easily meets SMACNA Leakage Class 6 for
high-pressure ductwork while providing excellent thermal
performance of R-6.7 at 7/8ths inch thick (R-8.5 at 1 3/32nds
inches). With a fully aluminum-faced airstream surface, the
KoolDuct system also delivers indoor air quality performance with
easy cleaning and maintenance.
The KoolDuct system also brings compelling benefits to the
design and construction phases of a project. Weighing just
15% as much as a corresponding section of sheet metal ductwork,
KoolDuct is easy to handle and install. The KoolDuct system
can also be installed flush against the wall or ceiling, making
better use of space in the ceiling cavity, and is easily fabricated
to accommodate piping or other unexpected obstructions.
At
www.KnaufUSA.com/KoolDuct,
building managers, engineers, architects and contractors will find
more details on these advantages, as well as specification data,
information on current and previous projects using the KoolDuct
system and more. While the KoolDuct system has been used
across the globe for more than 30 years, it is still fairly new to
the U.S. construction market, and Knauf has created this site to
help spread the word about this unique duct solution.
