Momper Insulation, Knauf Insulation and NAIMA help
a
Fort Wayne (IN) family save on monthly utility
bills
“Power in your hands” program illustrates energy-saving
value of insulation
(FORT WAYNE and SHELBYVILLE, Ind., February 16, 2006)
Knauf Insulation, the Alliance to Save Energy, and the North
American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) recognize
Momper Insulation of Fort Wayne, Indiana for its generous donation
of services as part of "The Power is in Your Hands" Campaign, a
nationwide effort to promote energy efficiency. Knauf is a
member of NAIMA, which sponsors the program, and a supplier to
Momper.
On February 3, 2006, Momper used Knauf's fiber glass
loose-fill insulation to increase the energy efficiency of the
attic and walls of the Yablonsky family home in Fort Wayne. The
Yablonsky home was selected for the project by Community Action of
Northeast Indiana. The family previously had little wall insulation
and low levels of attic insulation, which left them with high
energy bills and an uncomfortable home. They now have a
well-insulated home envelope, with insulation levels of R-49 in the
attic and R-15 in the front and side walls, the recommended levels
for optimum savings and comfort.
This combination of projects can save up to 20% on the
Yablonsky's energy costs, according to the US Environmental
Protection Agency.
"Without the support of Matt Momper and Momper Insulation, we
could not have pulled this off," said Bob Gardner, Knauf
Insulation’s Manager of Technical Services. "Here was a family
clearly in need of a more energy efficient home, and with Matt's
assistance we were able to help them control their energy costs and
live more comfortably. This is a great investment for any family.
Momper really showed how much they care about their
community."
"NAIMA also thanks Momper Insulation for its support of the
Campaign. We are doing this to raise awareness of the need for
better energy efficiency in our homes and buildings, which use more
than 40% of all energy used in the US," said Robin Bectel, director
of communications for NAIMA. "Never has the time been more right to
encourage homeowners to improve the energy efficiency of their
homes. It saves money, increases home value and makes a home more
comfortable."
A recent study from Harvard University estimates that more
than 46 million homes in the U.S. are underinsulated; proper
insulation can cut monthly energy bills 30% or more. And
according to the U.S. Department of Energy, a 10% reduction in home
utility bills would total almost $20 billion in savings a year and
avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from more than
25 million vehicles.
